The release comes just ahead of their highly anticipated performance at this year’s Bloodstock Open Air Festival in August, where fans will get a taste of their renewed intensity on the festival’s hallowed grounds.
“My Sanctuary” sees Lord of the Lost blend razor-sharp riffs with gothic harmonies and orchestral grandeur, all anchored by Chris Harms’ deep baritone vocals. This sonic evolution follows their #1-charting album Blood & Glitter, but with a distinct shift towards a darker, more immersive soundscape. As the first single from OPVS NOIR Vol. 1, “My Sanctuary” acts as a gateway into the band’s redefined creative vision.
Speaking about the single, frontman Chris Harms shared: “We have 33 songs to choose from, but which one will be the first single to pave the way into a new era and mark the beginning of a trilogy? We chose ‘My Sanctuary’, which for us is a kind of gateway song that opens the door to the world of OPVS NOIR. It shows that darkness isn’t just about sadness – for many of us, darkness is a life force.”
OPVS NOIR is set to be a major turning point for Lord of the Lost, not only as their first album as a six-piece but also as a project spanning three full-length releases. With 11 songs per volume, the trilogy will feature a total of 33 tracks, bringing the band back to their core gothic and metal influences. The album will be available in multiple editions, including strictly limited collector’s items for die-hard fans.
With their Bloodstock Open Air Festival appearance on the horizon, Lord of the Lost are primed to deliver a live show that encapsulates the dark, grandiose energy of their new era.
