With this new EP, Catalysis continues to demonstrate their dedication to evolving and producing compelling metal music, solidifying their place in the Scottish metal scene.
The band underwent significant lineup changes in June 2024, with new members Andrew Downie (vocals), Robi Islam (bass), and Jamie Paterson (guitar) joining founding members Drew Cochrane (lead guitar) and Calum Rennie (drums). This restructuring presented challenges, but the band embraced the experience, emerging stronger and more cohesive. The EP’s title, ‘The Only Way Out Is Through‘, became a mantra during this period of rebuilding, reflecting their resilience and determination.

For this release, Catalysis collaborated with local producer Mark Tindal, marking the first time the band has not exclusively relied on Drew for production duties. This joint effort has elevated the songs, resulting in some of their strongest material to date. Tindal also handled mixing and mastering, ensuring a polished final product. The band once again partnered with artist Mark Cruncher for the EP’s artwork, having been impressed by his work on their previous album, ‘Betrayer‘.
