FORMER ALICE IN CHAINS LOST JOURNALS SET TO BE PUBLISHED AS ‘THIS ANGRY PEN’

Unveiling Layne Staley’s Lost Journals: A Deep Dive into the Alice in Chains Frontman’s Creative World. 

A new book featuring never-before-seen poetry, handwritten lyrics, and personal writings by the late Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley is set for release this November.

Titled This Angry Pen: The Lost Journals of Layne Staley, the 176-page hardcover will arrive on November 11th via Weldon Owen Publishing, with distribution by Simon & Schuster.

According to an official description on Simon & Schuster’s website, the book offers an intimate look into Staley’s creative mind and personal struggles. It presents a collection of his raw, handwritten lyrics, deeply personal poetry, and introspective musings, providing fans with a rare glimpse into the legendary frontman’s world. The book also includes never-before-seen original artwork and rare candid photographs, capturing both the highs and lows of Staley’s journey. Additionally, This Angry Pen features fan art dedicated to Staley, celebrating the impact he had on listeners worldwide.

Through these writings and images, readers will gain a deeper understanding of Staley’s artistic genius, as well as the emotional depths of a musician who poured his soul into his work while battling personal demons. For longtime fans and new admirers alike, this collection serves as a powerful tribute to his legacy and the enduring influence of his music.

Staley tragically passed away on April 5th, 2002, due to a fatal overdose of heroin and cocaine. Despite his struggles, he left behind an iconic discography with Alice in Chains, including the seminal albums Facelift (1990), Dirt (1992), and Alice in Chains (1995).

Alice in Chains re-formed three years after Staley’s passing with new vocalist William DuVall and continue to tour and record new music. The band recently announced a new run of U.S. tour dates set for this spring.

Pre-orders for This Angry Pen: The Lost Journals of Layne Staley are now available on Amazon for approximately €38.50. The official cover artwork has yet to be revealed.
